In the Footsteps of Jesus

This lavishly illustrated, 368-page bestseller offers a fresh portrait of the historical Jesus as a grassroots spiritual reformer in the context of  transformative changes taking place inside the Roman Empire. Though deeply respectful of Christian tradition, the book doesn’t hesitate to tackle some of the urgent issues raised by modern biblical scholarship, including Jesus’ treatment and acceptance of women. For those readers for whom Jesus has become a remote personality, FOOTSTEPS offers a fresh and often moving encounter with a fully realized human being; a social and spiritual activist whose message still resonates with the great issues of our day. "A vivid and thorough picture of the life and times of Jesus... (with) stunning illustrations" (War Cry). An instant best-seller after its publication in late 2012, the book is available from National Geographic Books,  Amazon.com, and bookstores in your area.

"This worthy book could be read alongside the Gospels or could stand alone as a historical work."

The Story of Christianity

"Magnificent" WKNY Radio, New York

This richly detailed book offers a fascinating overview of the pervasive impact of Christian ideals on the human condition—in the realm of ethics, society, culture, politics, science, and respect for human dignity. Throughout the  upheavals of history, these ideas would inspire not only the world’s great cathedrals and magnificent works of art, literature and music, but also the rise of laws, schools, universities, libraries, and hospitals with which mankind slowly emerged from its Dark Ages to usher in the modern era.

Lavishly illustrated with over 400 art works, archaeological objects, prints and stunning location photography, this book also features 32 all-new detailed maps on subjects ranging from the Crusades to the Age of Exploration and the colonization of the New World. Written in the highly accessible narrative style that has made Prof. Isbouts one of National Geographic's top authors, this books tells the amazing two-thousand-year story of the greatest human experiment in history.

Released on November 8, 2014, this book is now available from local bookstores or direct from National Geographic.

Angels in Flanders

"Based on the true story of four courageous women who set up an "illegal" dressing station, Angels in Flanders illustrates the determination of these nurses to do their bit." Historical Novels Review

Angels in Flanders is a riveting World War I novel, inspired by true events, of four brave young women—British, American and Canadian –who operate an improvised medical post near the trenches of Flanders. During nearly four years, against impossible odds, these women save countless soldiers from both sides amidst the violence and mayhem of the Western Front.

Several romances ensue between the girls and Allied officers. Among others, a Belgian aristocrat and pilot named Harold de T’Serclaes falls in love with a British nurse, Elsie Knocker. But as rumors grow of a last major German offensive, the "angels in Flanders" confront their greatest danger yet.

The Mona Lisa Myth

Why does a portrait of a Florentine housewife, painted over 500 years ago, continue to enchant the world? Who is the Mona Lisa, really? Why is she smiling? And why did Leonardo agree to paint her to begin with? All of these questions are addressed in this thoroughly researched and highly accessible book, which shatters the prevailing Mona Lisa myths by boldly declaring that Leonardo painted not one, but two versions of the world's most famous portrait. Written by DR. JEAN-PIERRE ISBOUTS and art connoisseur DR. CHRISTOPHER HEATH BROWN, The Mona Lisa Myth is the definitive book on the most famous--and least understood--portrait in the world. A motion picture based on the book is currently in production at Pantheon Studios in Santa Monica, CA.
